2005, we met. 2006, we understand. 2007, we embrace. 2008, we accustom to each other’s company. 2009, we congrats on your success and hug goodbye… fore we know… every encounters lead to separations but as George Eliot says, “Only in the agony of parting do we look into the depths of love”.

In a foreign land where we were separated from our home, our family and all the environments that we were taught to understand… we only have one another. We talked through the nights, we looked for each other’s company in lonely times, we talked about our plans, our dreams… we talked about other’s plans, others’ dreams… we hugged, we played, we joked, we teased, we studied… we may not understand but we tried every effort to lessen each other’s stress, we cared for each other when we were sick…we traveled, we planned, we sit in silence but feel full, we worried when one of us seemed a little sad… all of these are not lost with separation….because we embrace what happened and we gain a bond stronger than any Math calculation.

Like a proud mum who enjoyed the success of her daughter’s success, we see the Whye in graduation robe and smiled. We were not with her through elementary or secondary school, but we were there with her in all her steps in university… and to see her in her robe, I cant help but to shoot this perfect day for her and write at the back of my photo… “Whye’s graduation (21/03/09) a day where all 5 of us were there to celebrate…. Where whye is the highlights and we were all the proud jiemei”

Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.
— Dr. Seuss

No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other’s worth. ~Robert Southey

And lastly from one of my favorite writers of love,

The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected. ~Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
